Christie Harrison-Murray and Ethan Laird have been named as the 2023/2024 PFA Community Champions for their contributions to their work in the community.
Both right back Ethan and midfielder, Christie have played a crucial part in the Foundations work this season by attending and engaging in numerous initiatives including the Foundation’s chaperone programme, Step Together, workshops in local schools, World book day, girls football initiatives and our grassroots football programmes.
Ethan said “I’m really pleased to receive for the PFA Community Champion of the Year award. I believe that community is a huge part of why we play football, so it is always good to give back. I am just delighted to be able to do that!”
Christe was equally delighted to be nominated and said ‘ The work the Club as a whole does in the community is huge and it’s so important that we connect in a positive way with as many people across Birmingham. I’m honoured to be named as PFA Community Champion for Birmingham City Women.’
The PFA Community Champion Awards were created to celebrate those players who go above and beyond to support their communities and both Ethan and Christe have played a crucial part in the Foundation’s work over the last season.

“The PFA has once again been immensely proud of the outstanding efforts of players this season and we feel they should be recognised for their support and involvement in the local community. The Award will hopefully raise awareness of the importance many of our members attach to their roles off the pitch and highlight their continued commitment to support those most in need along with engaging in areas where they have a personal interest.
